Non-Profit Senior
Transportation Service Seeks Part-time Driver
The Independent
Transportation Network Charleston Trident (ITNCT) is a
community based, non-profit, and United Way affiliated
organization providing transportation for seniors 65+
and visually impaired persons 21 and over. ITNCT is a
dignified transportation alternative for older people
who can no longer drive. Our service helps seniors
continue living an independent, connected life on their
own terms with rides by courteous and caring volunteer
and staff drivers. Our innovative and unique
"door-through-door" service means that our drivers help
our member-riders with steps, packages,
doors, walkers and occasional
wheelchairs. Many of our members tell us that riding
with ITN is more like riding with a friend than taking a
taxi.
A combination of volunteer
and paid drivers provide 400-600 rides per month.
ITNCT's service area includes the greater Charleston,
Mount Pleasant and North Charleston areas. Destinations
for our member-riders include medical
appointments, shopping,
church, hair salons, social gatherings, etc.

Paid
drivers use ITNCT owned vehicles.
Successful candidates must meet the following
requirements:
- Safe Driver! Clean 3 year MVR and pass a national criminal background check.
- Reliable and Punctual.
- Genuinely courteous,
friendly and always customer-service focused.
- Ability to
provide excellent service to our member-riders is of utmost
importance. Always acts in a helpful and efficient
manner when dealing with members.
- Cheerfully accept and adapt
to last-minute schedule and ride changes, cancellations,
etc.
- MUST be able to navigate
and be exceptionally familiar with Greater Charleston
area roadways for maximum timeliness, bypass heavy
traffic (alternative routing).
- Great verbal communication
skills.
- Reliable Internet and email
access required to receive assignments, ride schedules
and details. Must be able to print driver manifests.
- Possess a reliable cellphone and willing to use same for driver duties.
Smartphone a plus.
- GPS very helpful.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently enter and
dismount a vehicle.
- Meet member-riders at their
door and provide steadying arm/hand as needed at pick-up
and destination.
- Occasionally fold and lift
a folding wheelchair into and out of car trunk.
- Assist members with
packages or luggage.
Required Work Schedule:
Normal schedule is M-F with a
few after hour and weekend hours. No guarantee of hours
is given however drivers generally average 20-30+ hours
per week. Schedule varies daily according to volume of
requested rides. Some after hours and weekend rides
normally occur.
